Bond #5, issued at Fort Stanton, Lincoln County, New Mexico, July 1, 1885; ranching properties near Roswell, uncancelled, near fine condition, oversized, with 15 dividend coupons still attached. Signed by H.K. Thurber, as president. Also president of the United States Book Company, Seaside Publishing Company, and Thurber, Whyland & Co. Thurber left New York after being connected with some overdue debts, and moved to Texas. He founded the Town of Thurber after coal deposits were discovered in the vicinity. He then went on to found the Lea Cattle Company with friend and attorney, H. Aplington.
