Gustavus H. Stoiber

Why is this pass exceptional? Well, of course, it was issued and

signed by Otto Mears. But also because the Otto Mears

signature is completely original, and not been "re-inked" like

the few others still in existence.

What's more, it was issued to Gustave H. Stoiber, one of

Silverton's gold magnates, having owned one of the

most productive Silver Lake mines, San Juan County,

Colorado. Stoiber signed this pass on the back.
