Front and back panels of dust jacket are
bright and clean; spine is sunned and colors washed. There has been some
professional conservation work down on the head of the spine and a fractional
part of the upper left-hand corner of front panel. Back panel generally clean and bright, with
no conservation work.

Critical blurbs by
T.S. Eliot, H.L. Mencken,
and Paul Rosenfeld, indicating this dust jacket is a first edition, first
printing. Original first edition, first printing with original
first state dust jacket; signed by F. Scott Fitzgerald. Very light discoloration on back. Condition of original cloth covers: light abrasions or
moisture stains on spine; gilt lettering bright.

Book is in very good condition: cloth covers have been lightly
stained by moisture; however, gold lettering on spine is bright; internal pages
are bright, clean, and with little or no foxing. Spine is strong; gathers tight. F. Scott Fitzgerald signature is in black ink of the 1930s.
Provenance on signature provided.

Book was acquired
by original purchaser from Hochschild Kohn & Co., Baltimore,
Maryland's largest department store in 1934. Fitzgerald was living in
